Tips

Raise mowing height during the hot months of July and August.  Lawns need
a high nitrogen feeding at this time.

Help your lawn and garden survive the dry summer months.  Your lawn and
garden should receive at least 1-1/2 inches of water per week.  You can monitor this either
with a rain gauge or by setting a bucket within your sprinkler's path.  Or have us install an
automatic irrigation system.

Water during the early morning hours.  Watering early in the day allows your
lawn and gardens to absorb the moisture efficiently.  Watering in the evening can lead to
disease from your lawn and garden not having sufficient time to absorb the moisture prior to
"sleeping".  If you must water your gardens during the midday hours, use a soaker method to
apply the water directly to the roots at the base.

Apply a weed and feed fertilizer to control broadleaf weeds and clover.  This
is best done in the morning when dew is on the leaves so the particles will stick to weed
foliage.  You should also allow for 48 hours of dry weather after application.

Feed Roses and apply systematic insect control monthly.

Fertilize flowering trees and shrubs after blooming.  This is also the best time
to prune.
